Active Inc., a Tokyo based company that makes optical components has developed a new "composite LCD display" that is see-through. From the above picture it looks quite transparent like the stain-glass paintings we see at medieval churches, but much is yet to be revealed. The R&D of the company has been testing the use of liquid crystal optical film as a substitute for traditional LCD backlights; thus developing a screen that you can see-through the other side when the screen is powered on.
